The Great Pyramid was built with extraordinary cardinal precision, and its narrow chamber shafts have long invited stellar readings. One scholarly proposal associates the southern shaft from the so-called Queen’s Chamber with Sirius. Because the shafts’ purpose remains unresolved, this is best understood as a serious historical hypothesis—not settled fact.
The wider relationship is firmer. Ancient Egyptians knew Sirius as Sopdet, or Sothis, and used its heliacal rising as an important calendrical reference. Sirius therefore belonged to the cosmological world from which the pyramid emerged.
